Privacy Policy — C Media Player

Last updated: October 23, 2025

Version: 1.0

1. Introduction
Thank you for using C Media Player. This Privacy Policy explains how C Media Player (“we”, “us”, or “the app”) handles information in the app. Our goal is to be transparent about the app’s behavior and to respect your privacy.

2. Short summary
C Media Player is a free, ad-free local media player. To the best of our knowledge and following an internal audit of the app and its dependencies, C Media Player does **not** collect, transmit, or store personal data from users. The app does not include analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services that collect personal information in its current configuration.

3. What "no data collection" means (scope & caveats)
- “No data collection” means that in typical use the app does not send personal data (such as name, email, device identifiers, precise location, or media content) to any remote server. Playback and library management are performed locally on the user’s device.
- This statement is made **to the best of our knowledge** and following an internal code-and-dependency audit. It assumes the app is installed as released by us and not modified by third parties. If you or a third party modifies the app, behavior may differ.
- If we add any feature, dependency, or third-party service that collects data (for example analytics, crash reporting, or advertising), we will update this policy and the Google Play Data safety form before publishing that change.

4. Permissions and how we use them
C Media Player requests only the permissions necessary for its core functionality. Permissions present in the manifest and how we use them:

- **READ_MEDIA_AUDIO** / **READ_MEDIA_VIDEO**
Purpose: To enumerate and play audio and video files stored on your device. Files are accessed locally and processed on-device. We do not upload files or media content to our servers. These permissions are required on Android 13+ (API 33+) for reading media files.

- **READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (maxSdkVersion=32)**
Purpose: Backward compatibility for devices targeting API ≤ 32. See above for media access behavior.

- **READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED** (if present)
Purpose: Optional support for user-selected visual media access on Android 14+ (partial / picker flows).

- **POST_NOTIFICATIONS**
Purpose: To display optional notifications (e.g., playback controls). Notifications are local and do not imply data collection.

- **INTERNET**
Purpose: Only used for truly optional network features (for example: loading subtitles or remote album art from a URL when the user explicitly requests it). If you do not use those optional features, the app works offline. We do not use internet access for background analytics or telemetry in the current app configuration.

- **VIBRATE**, **CAMERA**, **BLUETOOTH_CONNECT**, other hardware features
Purpose: Declared where relevant for optional features and device compatibility. We do not collect or transmit data from these features unless you explicitly enable a feature that requires them.

Notes:
- If you deny any permission the app will attempt to degrade gracefully (for example by letting you manually pick files via the Storage Access Framework instead of scanning the entire device).
- We recommend offering a picker/SAF fallback in the UI for privacy-conscious users; this avoids granting broad media permissions.

5. Third-party libraries and services
C Media Player uses open-source libraries to implement UI and media functionality (for example AndroidX, Glide for image loading, Room for local storage, and our native media engine). In our current build configuration these libraries are not used for analytics or advertising. We do not include third-party analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs in the shipped app. If this changes, the policy will be updated and the Play Console Data safety form will be updated before publishing.

6. Data sharing
We do not share personal data with third parties because we do not collect personal data. If you explicitly use a feature that uploads content to a service you control or a third-party (for example, uploading a subtitle file to a remote URL you provide), that upload is initiated by the user and will be clearly disclosed in the UI at the time of use.

7. Data retention and deletion
Because we do not collect or store personal data, there is no personal data retention policy for remote servers. Local files and any app-created caches are stored on your device and are subject to normal Android storage management; you can uninstall the app at any time to remove local data. If you believe any personal data has been transmitted by the app, contact us (see Section 11) and we will investigate.

8. Security
We follow standard best practices to minimize risks in the app and in our codebase. Because the app processes user media locally, users’ media files do not leave the device under normal operation. If you use an optional network feature that uploads or fetches remote resources, network security (HTTPS, certificate validation) is used where applicable.

9. EU Representative — GDPR Article 27
We are not established in the European Union. Based on our current data practices — specifically that the app, in its current configuration, does not collect or transmit personal data of users — we do not appoint an EU Representative under GDPR Article 27. If our data practices change and we begin processing personal data of people in the EU, we will appoint an EU Representative and update this policy accordingly.

10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes (for example, we start using analytics or a third-party service that collects personal data), we will post the updated policy with a new “Last updated” date and update the Play Console Data safety form prior to publishing the updated app. We recommend checking this page occasionally.

11. How to contact us
If you have questions, concerns, or believe the app has collected or transmitted data in violation of this policy, please contact us:

[email protected]

We will investigate reported issues and respond as soon as reasonably possible.

12. Play Console / Data safety
We complete Google Play’s Data safety questionnaire accurately. If you believe the Data safety entries in our Play listing are inaccurate, please contact us at the address above.

13. Legal disclaimers
This policy is provided for informational purposes and is not legal advice. If you require legal assurance for a particular regulatory context, consider consulting a qualified privacy attorney.
